A free reservation is required to drive the access road and hike the Tall Trees Trail.Klamath Beath Road/ Coastal Drive Loop : OPEN.This is a beautiful gravel road to walk year-round under the redwoods with your leashed pets. CLOSED to foot traffic as well due to storm damage.From May 15th - Sept 15th, free summer parking permits are needed.Fern Canyon Parking / Gold Bluffs Beach Day Use Area: CLOSED.Closures happen with little or no warning, and there will be a delay before closures are posted on the "park conditions / alerts" webpage. In winter and spring, this road often is temporarily closed due to flooding or landslides. This gravel road has two stream crossings and low clearance vehicles going to Fern Canyon sometimes get stuck or scrape along these stream cobbles.
